Temppeliaukio Church is uniquely excavated directly into natural granite bedrock, with its rugged rock walls and a striking copper-lined dome creating a dramatic, otherworldly interior.
The interplay of natural light through 180 skylights encircling the dome enhances the serene, spiritual atmosphere, while the preserved drill marks and raw stone surfaces provide a tangible connection to the earth’s history.
